Heart Breaking~

Over the past weekend we received horrible news that two relatives had their sweet lives cut short. Quinn's cousin Teri's two sweet boys were killed in a car accident on December 18th. Bridger was 10 and M'Gwire was 7. We were able to travel up to Utah for the funeral. It was the most heart wrenching thing I have ever seen. It seems so unfair that a parent should have to outlive their children. They had two of their 9 children taken. I can not even imagine the sorrow they must feel. The funeral however was amazing. I have never seen so many people in attendance for a funeral. It was heart braking to watch these boys friends struggle to keep their emotions under control. They were trying so hard to be strong. Here are a few pictures of them.

Kids~

So working at the school I come across MANY kids from various walks of life. Some you would like to squash like a bug and others you enjoy. But sometimes there is one that grabs your heart and and takes a big ol' chunk of it. I happen to have one of those. And sometimes I hate it. He comes from a broken home where Dad has (or SHOULD have) custody. The Grandpa takes charge so they actually get a bath and an education. And Mom is off in another country. Anyway this boy has a smile that melts my heart. When he hugs you he means it with everything in him. Today he told me that he dreams about his mom but that her face is a bunch of little squares because he doesn't know what she looks like. And that her hair is long like mine. My heart broke into a million pieces. And there is nothing that I can do about it. I have been struggling with my emotions all day since he told me that. He is such a sweet kid.....I would adopt him in a heartbeat if I could.

Good Read.......

I have just finished reading a really good book. It is called "The Porter Rockwell Chronicles". It is a series of books that follows the life of Porter Rockwell, who was Joseph Smiths best friend. I absolutely LOVED it! My only problem is that I borrowed the book from my mom and she only has volume 1. So now I am in search of 2 - 4. Unfortunately the public library does not have them.

In reading this, I found out that Emma Smith is not like I thought she was. Although it doesn't give a lot of detail about her. I was also not a fan of Porters wife. Anyway, read it if you Get the chance. I can't wait to read the rest.

Daily Gems

I have signed up to receive "Daily Gems" in my email every day. They are spiritual quotes from church leaders on a variety of subjects. They are always good, but this one got to me today.

"Many blessings in life are missed because worldly judgment was applied to what was really a spiritual decision."
Gregory A Schwitzer, "Developing Good Judgement and Not Judging Others." Ensign May 2010 104-105

It got me wondering if I am doing all I can to make the right decisions. It's so easy these days to get caught up in worldly things and worry about things that in the grand scheme of it all really means nothing. It's hard not to sometimes. I just hope I can always remember to make decision NOT based on worldly judgment.
